The first installment of the epic excavation series "The Bootleg Series" is finally available as an LP! Bob Dylan's "The Bootleg Series 1-3" was released in 1991 on analog vinyl. The box set, which created a big buzz, is now finally available on LP. The 58 tracks included in the box set were all previously unreleased and rare, and are the most significant additions to Dylan's career to date. The recordings were made over a 30-year period between 1961 and 1989, and are arranged chronologically. Some of the songs were known as unofficial pirate recordings, but they are so good that it is hard to understand why they were never officially released. Overall, the rough-hewn works of the 1960s are part of the appeal of this album, but there are also many excellent songs from the 1980s, especially "Blind Willie McTell" from 1983, which some consider to be Dylan's best work. The accompanying 32-page booklet includes previously unpublished photographs, recording data, and comments, further enhancing the value of this work.
