Round Lab's soybean-panthenol cleansing oil positions itself as the first-cleanse pair for sensitive skin. Most cleansing oils lean on mineral oil or sunflower-seed base. Round Lab uses soybean oil, a well-tolerated plant base with a fatty-acid profile closer to the skin's own sebum than most vegetable oils, paired with 2% panthenol. The panthenol is the differentiator. Adding a meaningful dose of provitamin B5 to a first-cleanse means the product cleanses and soothes in the same step.
For users who emulsify (the standard Korean double-cleanse method of adding water and massaging until the oil turns milky), this oil rinses clean without residue. The result is makeup-free, sunscreen-free skin that does not feel stripped or reactive afterward. For reactive, post-procedure, or winter-dry skin, it is one of the cleanest first-cleanses in the Korean mainstream.
Soybean oil dissolves waterproof makeup, sunscreen, sebum, and environmental pollutants. The emulsifier system turns the oil milky with water, lifting everything off the skin when rinsed. Panthenol at 2% supports barrier function and calms during cleansing. Result: thorough first-cleanse with no post-wash tightness, no reactive flare, no stripped feel. Over weeks of consistent use, skin reactivity reduces because the cleansing step stops being a trigger.
Apply to dry skin and dry hands (water-first application reduces the oil's ability to dissolve makeup). Dispense 2 to 3 pumps, massage across face for 30 to 60 seconds. Add a small amount of lukewarm water, continue massaging until the oil emulsifies into a milky lotion. Rinse thoroughly. Follow with a low-pH foaming cleanser as the second cleanse. Use only in PM or on heavily-soiled skin; a pure water rinse in AM is often sufficient.
Soybean oil is low on the comedogenic scale and well-tolerated by most skin types. Rare individual reactions happen. Patch test behind the ear for 48 hours if you have a history of oil-triggered breakouts.
Different format. Heimish and Banila are balms that melt on skin contact; Round Lab is a pure liquid oil. Oils tend to rinse cleaner and suit daily use; balms suit heavier makeup. For light to medium daily wear, the Round Lab oil is the more efficient option. For heavy makeup or theater-level wear, balms grip more.
Daily PM use: 3 to 4 months. Occasional use: 6 months plus.
If emulsified correctly and rinsed thoroughly, no. If you skip the water-emulsification step, yes. The milky-water phase is the cue that it is ready to rinse.
Yes, gently. Close eyes, apply lightly over lids and lashes, emulsify with water, rinse. For stubborn waterproof mascara, consider a dedicated eye makeup remover first.
Follow with Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Bubble Foam as the second cleanse, then the Dokdo toner and lotion set. Browse the full Round Lab collection.
