Public versus private, employees versus employers, women versus men, environmentalists versus climate change deniers… Binary thinking pervades the socio-political sphere, offering victimhood and revenge as the only solutions. Binary proponents deepen the divides of identity, in an exclusionary manner, to generate social conflict and fuel the politics of resentment and vengeance. Self-censorship, the fear of expressing opinions against political correctness, and the fury of the masses hidden behind social media profiles foster cancel culture, ideological racism, and the woke movement. Cancellation becomes a compass that identifies the dictatorships of ideologies, the Western self-sabotage promoted in universities, and political hatred, helping to dismantle them. It dismantles, one by one, the myths and dogmas of false progressivism and its most illiberal manifestations: those tyrannies of minorities, disguised as compassion and equality, that only seek to polarize and build walls. Cancellation is an ode to tolerance, respect, and dialogue that offers us some hope and enthusiasm amidst the collective schizophrenia that surrounds us.
