Description:
The third volume of the Furtwängler Stereo Transcription series, this time three works by R. Strauss, who is closely associated with Furtwängler, are reissued from a fantastic test press LP. This is the third volume of the "Stereo Transcription" series, following Beethoven's "Fate" + "Egmont" Overture (GS-2256) and Schumann's Symphony No. 4 + Haydn's Symphony No. 88 (GS-2257). This is the third in the series of "Stereo Transcriptions" following Haydn's Symphony No. 4 + Haydn No. 88 (GS-2257). Compared to the original monaural version, this disc has a more lustrous sound that is more befitting of R. Strauss. Even though we know that this is not a real stereo recording, it has a mysterious charm that makes us listen to it. Please note that this disc is a reissue of the original LP, so it contains noise peculiar to LPs. Please understand this in advance. (Naoya Hirabayashi) King International
