Karl-Heinz Schutz
Description:
Karl-Heinz Schütz is not only the principal flutist of the Vienna Philharmonic, but also a soloist of great ambition. His exceptional technique, beautiful tone, and good taste, which are said to be outstanding among the principal flutists of the past, are on full display in this collection of unaccompanied works by Bach's father and son. The solo flute masterpieces, "Partitas" by the great Bach, sonatas by C.P.E. Bach, and the Suite for Unaccompanied Cello, unfold before your eyes with the rich expression and resonance that only the modern flute can provide. <Since September 2005, he has been teaching flute at the Conservatorium of Private Music in Vienna. He was also principal flute of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra from 2005 to 2011 and of the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra from 2000 to 2004. He studied with Eva Amsler in Feldkirch (Austria), Aurelle Nicolet in Basel (Switzerland), and Philippe Bernold at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon (France). As a soloist, he has performed with renowned orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Academy Chamber Orchestra, and the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Daniel Barenboim, Fabio Luisi, Yakov Kreizberg, and Sir Neville Marriner. As a student, he won the Carl Nielsen International Flute Competition (1998) and the Krakow International Flute Competition (1999). He is also an avid chamber musician, playing with the Ensemble Wien-Berlin and the Vienna Ring Ensemble, which he joined after Wolfgang Schulze. Camerata Tokyo
