They use a much thicker gold plate than the industry standard, and once the pieces are plated, a protective finish is added to prolong the life of the gold plate. Gold plated jewelry should hold it’s plating for years if the wearer takes proper care of the piece - remove when soaping, showering, swimming or sweating!

**Gold filled jewelry is composed of a number of layers wherein a gold alloy is permanently bonded to the brass core with both heat and pressure. Because of the permanent nature of gold filled jewelry, it is slightly more expensive than plated or vermeil jewelry but should not be confused with solid gold jewelry.
