Red Button Spiral Ginger is a low maintenance plant in the food forest. Its attractive foliage and long lasting, colorful blooms are a magnet for pollinators and hummingbirds.

Yellow/orange, edible flowers emerge from its bright red cones. Flowers are slightly juicy, and taste bright and tart like cranberry. Are you surprised to know that the leaves are edible too? They’re a bit fibrous with tart flavor, but highly palatable. 

Plant in partial sun, filtered sun, or in full sun. Spiral Ginger typically grows 3-4 feet tall and is considered ornamental.
