Two canvassing books in not-very-nice condition, but interesting examples of information about current events being disseminated via subscription book. The profiles of politicians and major topics in Men and Issues of '92 ("A New Departure in Campaign Literature") provided voters with information likely to influence voting while simultaneously creating a souvenir of the election. The speed at which the books would need to be produced accounts for the simplicity of styles (Issues offered only one binding at $2.00; Lives had two).

Lives of Harrison and Reid 1892 (cover title) by Henry Davenport Northrop. Poor condition, lacks a title page, has a detached textblock, dampstaining to the rear board, various tears, and a "Regional Public Library" stamp, which seems like an odd place for a sample book. 6 subscriber blanks, no subscribers listed. Offered primarily as a counterpoint/bonus to Issues of '92 since it's on hand.
