Description:
Amparo Sanchez, a female singer who once led the band Amparanoia, was active in the Spanish mixed music scene along with Manu Chao and Ojos de Brujo. Unfortunately, Amparanoia disbanded in 2008, but Amparo herself has since become increasingly active as a solo artist. This album was released in 2014, but has not been well introduced in Japan. Amparo Sanchez was born in 1969 in Andalusia, Spain. She loved rock and soul music, and by the age of 18 she was considered the best female rocker in Andalusia. When she moved to Madrid, she had the opportunity to play with Manu Chao and his friends, who happened to be visiting the area, and they hit it off. Manu taught her Caribbean and other music from around the world, which became a major inspiration for her subsequent creative work. Then, in 1997, she made her debut as Amparanoia. The band was highly acclaimed for its mixed sound that blended a variety of styles based on Cuban music, including ska, reggae, R&B, rock, jazz, polka, .... Amparo's sound is a mixture of various styles, including ska, reggae, R&B, rock, jazz, polka, and more, all based on Cuban music. It was also a very popular work that featured guest appearances by Buena Vista singer Omarla Portuondo. After "Alma de Cantaola: The Soul of a Singing Woman" (Beans Records) in 2012, she released her 2014 album, "Alma de Cantaola: The Soul of a Singing Woman. Produced and guitarized by Joey Burns of Calexico, who has become a close friend of hers. The album is produced and guitarized by Joey Burns of Calexico, who has become a close friend of hers, and features many of Calexico's other musicians, including John Convertino (drums) and Sergio Mendoza (keys). The mixing has become more and more diverse, with occasional Cuban son and Mexican mariachi style numbers popping up.The last track is a tribute to "Mano Negra," a band formerly led by Manu, who is a close friend of Amparo and Joey.
