Why this kit matters

The Mistel project was one of Germany’s more unusual aerial concepts during the Second World War. It involved pairing a piloted aircraft, usually a fighter like the Fw190, with a larger unmanned aircraft filled with explosives. The combination was intended for precision strike missions against heavily fortified targets such as bridges and naval vessels.

The Ta154A-1 was developed as a night fighter and represented Germany’s attempt to counter Allied bombing raids. Although its operational history was limited, it became part of experimental aircraft projects such as Mistel, where older or adapted airframes were repurposed for composite attack roles. The Fw190A-8, one of Germany’s most capable fighter variants, provided the control element in this configuration.
