How many of you remember Lc. Puppy Love? It is one of my all-time favourite Cattleyas, and I’ll never forget the first impression it made when I saw it blooming at Stewart Orchids. The parents in the breeding of Dubiosa (C. trianae x C. loddigesii) produce impressive heads of white flowers with a bit of lavender in the throat, and the 5-9 flowers are surprisingly long-lived up to 8 weeks. Laelia anceps ‘South Africa’ is a line-bred strain from Lorens Grobler of South Africa. Its exceptional shape, large flower size, and 4 flowers per stem make for a top-quality anceps. This re-make promises to deliver pink flowered Puppy Loves with strong arching inflorescences displaying 5-8 well-arranged flowers.
