Description:
Monieuszko is known as the "Father of Polish Opera. A lover of the poetry of Adam Mickiewicz, another Polish national poet, he has written a dozen books of songs. This cantata, also based on a libretto by Mickiewicz, is a magnificent work that beautifully combines poetry and music. However, what is known today is the version that was revised by the composer's friends after his death, and the performer Kosenjak asked musicologist Maciej Prohaska to reconstruct the complete score in order to give the correct form of the work, removing all the revisions made by others and washing out the original form of the work. This is, of course, the world premiere and first recording of the work in this version.
