It's been a long time since I came across one of these seriously cool vintage 1950s mens' gab work jackets. This one is styled with moderately padded shoulders, back shoulder vents, and a pair of brass slide buckles in back to adjust the fit at the waist. There are double pairs of hand warmer pockets in front, on set of besom angled slit pockets, plus a pair of flapped pockets above. The coat also has an inner chest pocket on the wearer's right. The right upper sleeve has a shield shaped patch sewn to it from the American Legion, Department of Illinois.

SIZE: Labeled 42

FABRIC/COLORS: The outer shell is a smooth gabardine in dark blue. The lining is pale gray and satiny. The body of the jacket also has an additional middle layer for warmth, but nowhere for me to get a look at it without opening a seam - the sleeves do not have that middle layer.

CLOSURES: The jacket closes with a heavy duty metal Crown zipper. There is a trio of small dark plastic button near the bottom of each cuff that are non-functional

CONDITION: The jacket appears to have been lightly worn. There is subtle reddish heat discoloration at the back of the collar and similar shading at the edge of the cuffs- you won't see it unless you look for it. You can see faint needle marks where a small rectangular patch was once sewn onto the left upper sleeve. No other issues noted.
