Description:

Skoryk was born in Lviv, Ukraine in 1938. After World War II, he and his family were exiled to Siberia, where he gained experience studying music there. After returning to his hometown, he studied under Kabalevsky and became a successful musician, and is now a respected teacher. He is best known for his operas, ballets, and other dramatic music, as well as his orchestral arrangements of Paganini's 24 Caprices. 9 violin concertos were composed over the course of 45 years of his musical life, and all are strongly expressive with syncopated orchestral accompaniments and melancholy drifts of Ukrainian folklore.
