Deutsche Grammophon The Best 1200" VOL.2 is Herbert von Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic's first recording of Beethoven's complete symphonies from the 1960s. The first and second symphonies of Beethoven's youth, which are heavily influenced by Haydn and Mozart, are a departure from the grandiose music of his middle period and beyond, but Karajan makes full use of the Berlin Philharmonic's massive sound to create a new appeal. Recorded at the Church of Jesus Christ in Berlin, 1961-1962.
