Description:
Renowned violinist Ellen Jewett pursues the tradition of Turkish music. On this album, she performs unaccompanied violin works by three Turkish composers, including world premiere recordings. Saigun's "Partita," reminiscent of Bartók; Turkmen's "Beautiful and Nobody's" with its symbolic title; and Cetits' "Murmur" in which the violin imitates human voices, from crying to whispering. These three unique pieces are included in this collection. Recorded in an artificial cave in Cappadocia, the recordings capture well the resonant sound of the violins and their mysterious echoes.
