Born in Bucharest in 1994, cellist Andrei Ionitsa began studying piano at the age of five and cello at eight, and since 2012 has studied with Jens-Peter Mainz at the Berlin University of the Arts, The Times called him "one of the best cellists of the decade and one of the most exciting cellists of all time," and he has attracted worldwide attention.
