Agave macroacantha is found in southern Puebla and northern Oaxaca in rocky soils, dry sedimentary slopes, and occasionally limestone between 3800 and 4500'. It is a highly attractive small agave, with green, blue-gray, to powder blue leaves and stiff ultra sharp brown to jet black terminal spines. Agave macroacantha can sucker profusely by underground rhizomes, making 2-5' clumps, with individual heads 10- 18" across over time. Plants produce 6-7' thin inflorescences with greenish flowers, and is hardy to 20-25 degrees Fahrenheit. Plants are currently in 5" & will be shipped bareroot.
