Description:
Reussner, Matsuo Basho, and Zen. Toyohiko Sato's new recording is 17th century German art! Toyohiko Sato is a world-class master of the lute, and the pride of Japan, who has played the boundaries of lute music with "J.S. Bach" and "Weiss" (Nostalgia 1401) on his original lute "Greif". The new recording is lute music by Ezeas Leusner (1639-1679), a 17th century German composer and luthier who was active at the same time as the Japanese haikai poet Matsuo Basho (1639-1679)! The music of Leusner, which consists of very short pieces played by Toyohiko Sato in combination with the famous instrument "Greif" made in 1611, about 400 years ago, has in common the Zen mind "Mu = Infinity" and Matsuo Basho's "Wabi and Sabi". Reussner's music, which laid the foundation for Weiss's later works, transcends the frameworks of the ages, such as ancient and modern music. The profound world, the supreme art of a world-class master, and the tone of the famous instrument "Greif" become one across the ages. Tokyo M-Plus
