Latin name - Canna edulis

Achira is a type of canna lily that makes large starchy tubers, similar to potato.  With a smooth, crunchy, and slightly sweet flavor and incredibly high yield per plant, this is an easy to grow calorie crop in the food forest.   Set it and forget it, you’ll be able to harvest the tubers in about 10-12 months.  The top half of the plant produces considerable amounts of foliage making it excellent for chop n drop.  

Tolerant of many different growing conditions, be sure to plant in well draining soils.
