Description:
Yuzuko Horime, one of Japan's most renowned violinists, performs with the Concertgebouw Orchestra in a masterful performance of her youth. After winning the first prize at the 1980 Queen Elisabeth International Competition, violinist Yuzuko Horigome has been actively performing in Japan and abroad. From among the masterpieces that Yuzuko Horime intensively recorded for CBS Sony in the late 1980s, the Sibelius and Mendelssohn Violin Concertos with the prestigious Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra will be revived after a long absence since their first release in 1988. The Sibelius concerto is also the piece that Horime won the Elisabet Competition, playing it in the final, and this album has attracted a great deal of attention as the first re-recording since the live recording with Octor and the Belgian National Orchestra at the same competition. The album is conducted by Hungarian conductor Ivan Fischer, who has built a close relationship with the Concertgebouw Orchestra in recent years with such works as "Bach: The Matthew Passion" and "Beethoven: The Complete Symphonies". This album is also valuable in the history of Japanese recordings in that it is almost the only album in which a Japanese recording staff recorded the Concertgebouw Orchestra on its home turf. Recorded: May 2 & 3, 1988 / Location: Concertgebouw, Amsterdam / Original release date: 1988
