PLA Chess is handmade in sunny San Diego, California. This chess set has a sleek, sophisticated appearance, putting a modern twist on a traditional game.

PLA Chess uses high quality materials. Pieces are handmade in resin or 3D printed. They have a smooth finish, easy to hold. Colors might be slightly different in the photos. We use the best resin with the highest UV resistance but any plastic (especially white pieces) will get a slight color change after some time if exposed to a lot of sunlight, so don't keep the set under direct sunlight. The frame is constructed of painted plywood with white oak or walnut veneer on top. The chessboard is laser engraved with a polygonal texture to compliment the look of the chess pieces and finished with a satin top coat.

PLA Chess sets are made in small numbers. Other than the laser engraving for the chessboards, the whole set is handmade by us after you order. Because of this, few sets are alike, and many are unique.

Note: After September 2021, we made a small change to the white border board. The frame will be made from painted plywood and mdf and there won't be a bevel under the board.

*** Please note that 3D printed items are made by adding very thin layers of plastic, one layer at a time. Slight imperfections / visible layer lines are expected, but I work hard to avoid them.
