The Phocos Any-Grid™ PSW-H Inverter Charger Series (Pure Sine Wave Hybrid) represents Phocos’ most versatile line of inverters/chargers. Flexibility and reliability are key characteristics of this product line, with a strong potential for cost saving opportunities in real world conditions. The Any-Grid PSW-H converts DC (Direct Current) energy into AC (Alternating Current), with multiple advantages beyond standard inverters. This product includes an integrated MPPT charge controller and can function as an AC to DC battery charger, which provides flexible energy access solutions in a broad range of applications.
The battery can be charged from solar and/or an AC source (public grid or generator), with easily programmable priorities. The Any-Grid PSW-H can function without an AC source or alternatively even without solar, as a pure uninterruptible power supply (UPS). When the utility grid or AC generator fails, the Any-Grid PSW-H immediately switches to ‘Off-Grid’ mode within 10 ms (typical, in UPS mode) to securely power the loads at all times. Solar can be set as the priority energy source to save electricity costs.
The Any-Grid PSW-H can function in a battery-free mode. In this mode, for installations with stable public grids, grid energy consumption can be reduced without the need to invest in a costly battery bank. Additionally, power can be supplied directly to loads from the grid and solar simultaneously.
This unit comes with one to two quality, integrated MPPT charge controller(s). The controller(s) accept(s) particularly high PV voltages, allowing many PV modules to be connected in series, decreasing installation cost and avoiding combiner boxes. Up to 9 inverters can be connected parallel, 3-phase or split-phase for up to 58.5 kW of synchronized AC power.

After installation of an Any-Grid PSW-H inverter, does the filter need attention? If so, what should be done?
Regular maintenance of dust filters is necessary for optimal inverter performance. Dust filters help prevent overheating by ensuring proper airflow. The Any-Grid PSW-H comes with two dust filters that are easy to access. To maintain them:
Frequency of Maintenance:
Are all the MPPT charge controllers from the inverters individual or are they hooked up to each other?
If using more than one Any-Grid PSW-H unit, each unit handles its own PV array independently. The MPPTs are not interconnected; they work separately to optimize PV harvest, especially in situations of partial shading or other suboptimal conditions.
Are the Any-Grid PSW-H’s fans loud? When do the fans run?
The fans in the Any-Grid PSW-H are always running but at reduced speeds when the inverter is operating at low power. At low power, fans run at about 30% speed and adjust based on output or PV input power. They are speed-controlled and generally run under 60 dBa, with around 35 dBa at 30% speed. It is advisable not to place the inverter in living areas due to noise and ventilation requirements, especially for rooms containing lead-acid batteries.
Are there any requirements if you install thin film modules?
Phocos does not impose specific requirements, but you should consult the thin film module manufacturer for any grounding needs. The Any-Grid PSW-H allows for various battery grounding configurations but does not permit grounding of the positive or negative PV terminals. If grounding of PV terminals is required by your thin film module manufacturer, the Any-Grid PSW-H may not be suitable.
What is the largest and smallest battery bank one can use with Any-Grid PSW-H Inverters?
For Any-Grid PSW-H inverters, the primary consideration is nominal voltage. Match the battery bank's nominal voltage with the inverter's (e.g., 24 Vdc battery bank for a 24 Vdc inverter). The practical size limits are influenced by system size, budget, and space. The minimum recommended size is 200 Ah of battery capacity per PSW-H for lead-based batteries. For lithium batteries, ensure the battery and its BMS handle the inverter's current requirements.
What is the maximum PV current that the Any-Grid PSW-H inverter can handle?
The maximum usable current per input for the PSW-H 5KW-120/48V model is 18 Adc. With two independent MPPT inputs, each can handle up to 18 Adc. Exceeding this current may cause the MPPT to limit input current and result in efficiency losses. Ensure the PV voltage does not exceed the inverter's maximum voltage rating (250 Vdc for the PSW-H 5KW-120/48V).
What is the warranty for the Any-Grid PSW-H?
The warranty period for the Any-Grid PSW-H is 3 years.
