The EDI-USA Canine (K9) Bulletproof Vest delivers soft body armor protection sized and shaped for working dogs. Available in Level II or Level IIIA / HG2, the vest attaches securely to the K9 without restricting movement — the dog can sit, run, and perform all standard operational functions while wearing it. Three sizes (Small, Medium, and Large) cover a range of breeds, and optional anti-spike and anti-stab protection is available on a custom basis. GSA contract holders can order directly through GSA Advantage under contract number 47QSWA21D0010, and TAA-compliant configurations are available on request.
The vest is offered in two threat levels. Level II protection stops common handgun threats including 9mm and .357 Magnum at standard velocities. The Level IIIA / HG2 configuration — the most popular option — extends coverage to stop .44 Magnum and 9mm submachine gun rounds at higher velocities, representing the highest level of soft body armor protection available in a wearable, flexible format. Neither level is rated against rifle-caliber threats; rifle rounds require hard armor plates.
The vest is designed to be flexible and cool, reducing the risk of overheating during extended wear or warm-weather deployments. Durable, adjustable buckles allow handlers to achieve a secure fit across different body shapes and coat types within each size band. A drag strap on the top of the vest gives handlers a reliable grip point for physically handling the dog or attaching a leash. The design does not impede the dog's full range of motion — sitting, running, and normal physical functions remain unaffected during wear.
Custom colors, designs, patches, labels, and other identifiers are available to meet agency branding or operational identification requirements. Anti-spike and anti-stab protection can be added on a custom-order basis for handlers who need multi-threat coverage. TAA-compliant versions are available through EDI-USA's compliance specialists — contact us for a quote. The vest is listed on GSA Advantage under GSA contract number 47QSWA21D0010, streamlining procurement for federal, state, and municipal agencies.
Level IIIA / HG2 is the highest soft armor threat rating available. It stops .44 Magnum and 9mm submachine gun rounds at elevated velocities — the same ballistic standard applied to human soft body armor at this level. Level II stops common handgun rounds including 9mm and .357 Magnum but at lower velocity thresholds than IIIA.
No. Level II and Level IIIA / HG2 are handgun-rated soft armor designations. Neither configuration is rated to stop rifle-caliber rounds. Stopping rifle threats requires hard armor plates, which are not available in a wearable canine vest format at this time.
The vest is available in Small, Medium, and Large to fit different breeds. The adjustable buckle system provides additional fit range within each size. Contact us with your dog's breed, chest girth, and back length and we can help you select the correct size before ordering.
