Also called Monk’s Plum, Peanut Butter Fruit trees yield clusters of dark red fruits about 1” in length. Fuzzy skin encases a slightly juicy fruit with remarkable similarity to peanut butter. Fruits can be eaten fresh or cooked into jam or preserves.
The Peanut Butter Fruit tree is a member of Acerola family, related to Barbados Cherry, Singapore Holly, and Locustberry. Its native to Central and South America. Like its relatives, Peanut Butter Trees prefer a rich, but well-draining soil with plenty of organic material.
Propagate more trees via seeds or stem cuttings. Our trees here at Incredible Edible Landscapes are propagated by cutting which lends to quick fruit yield.
You can expect your Peanut Butter Tree to begin fruiting within just a couple years of planting. Most fruit within 2-3 years from seed and many of our in-stock trees are already of fruiting age.
