Czerny, Carl (1791-1857)
Description:
Carl Czerny is known as a disciple of Beethoven and as a composer of "exercises" that are still beloved today. Although he composed over 800 pieces during his lifetime in all genres except opera, most of them were forgotten and not performed until the 21st century. This album contains the world premiere recording of his "Piano Trio," two pieces from Op. 211, published by the sheet music merchant Diabelli in 1830, in a delightful classical form with Spanish-style boleros, etc. In the three sonatinas from Op. 104, the piano plays the leading role. The violin and cello play ornamental melodies that enliven the piano passages. The free form of the first movement of No. 3, in which the pianist is required to play a cadenza, also recalls the fashions of the time when he was active. Naxos Japan
