Description:
The conclusion of "Mozart Momentum," a project by Leif Ove Ansnes and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra to perform and record a series of masterpieces centered around five piano concertos No. 20 through No. 24 written during the two years of Mozart's Vienna period (1785 and 1786). The project is the final installment of the "Mozart Momentum" project. The two-disc set from 1786, the year he wrote his magnum opus "The Marriage of Figaro," also features a star-studded lineup of masterpieces from his Vienna period. The two piano concertos No. 23 and No. 24 are placed at either end of the set, and the set includes two chamber pieces, a rondo for solo piano, and a concert aria. As with the first recording, the worldwide outbreak of the new Corona virus forced the cancellation of the scheduled concerts, but fortunately the session recording was made at the Vienna Musikverein under the Corona. Both recordings are the first Ansnes recordings. (C)RS
