Turn bedding + food into living soil with nature’s best composters.

Our pure-bred Red Wigglers (Eisenia fetida) — also known as Tiger Worms for their distinct striping and voracious appetite — are the gold standard for vermicomposting. Whether you're starting a home worm bin, enriching your garden, or building living soil in your greenhouse, these worms work overtime to recycle organic waste into nutrient-rich castings.

🌱 Why Eisenia fetida?

  • Species: Eisenia fetida (not Lumbricus rubellus or European Nightcrawlers)
  • Lifespan: Up to 4–5 years in ideal conditions
  • Habitat Preference: Surface-dwellers — thrive in moist, rich organic matter (NOT deep soil burrowers)
  • Reproduction: Hermaphroditic; cocoons hatch in 3–4 weeks, doubling your population every 90 days under optimal conditions
  • Temperature Range: 55°F to 77°F optimal, but survive 40°F to 90°F
  • pH Tolerance: Ideal between 6.5–7.5
  • Moisture Content: 70–90% (they breathe through their skin!)

🧪 What Makes Our Worms Different?

Our Tiger Worms are:

  • Field-raised on premium proprietary organic chow — not fed peat or animal manure
  • 100% Eisenia fetida — no contamination with Eisenia hortensis or other species
  • ✅ Packed in biologically active bedding to maintain microbial health during transit and enable immediate use.
  • Proven breeders — mature, active composters ready to multiply

🏡 Perfect For:

  • Indoor worm bins
  • Outdoor compost systems
  • Raised garden beds
  • Worm towers
  • Classroom and homeschool science kits

📦 Shipping & Guarantee:

  • Live worms are shipped Priority Mail with insulation and moisture retention layers. USPS requires a $15 live animal fee, which is applied at checkout to all live worm orders. Overnight mail is available.
  • We ship early in the week—usually Monday—to avoid weekend delays. Tracking is provided.
  • Live Arrival Guarantee in the contiguous U.S. (weather permitting) if you take immediate delivery of worms. Please ensure someone is available to receive your worms upon delivery, or request a “Hold for Pickup” at your local post office. We cannot guarantee live arrival if your worms are left unattended.
  • Weather-Based Shipping Window: We’re located near Columbia, South Carolina. For most destinations, we can reliably ship from mid-March through early June and again from mid-September through early December. Orders may be held when highs exceed 90°F or lows fall below 30°F to ensure worm safety.
