On September 22, 2006, a three day ceremony called Tomcat Sunset was held at NAS Oceana Virginia Beach. For the occasion a few VF 31 aircraft were given a special tail artwork, this included F 14 163904 102 which was produced in 1991. One part of the event was going to be a fly past by 102 but a faulty generator grounded the aircraft with 107 having the honor. F 14 693904 eventually ended up
