Description:
This is a collection of orchestral works by Vaughan Williams (1872-1958), who made great contributions to the development of modern British music. While a student at the Royal College of Music in London, Vaughan Williams pursued a "uniquely British style" with Holst, and gradually established his own style, incorporating English folk songs into his works. The title of the opera "The Poison's Kiss" may sound frightening, but the content is very romantic. The overture features a series of melodies from the play. The other pieces all represent pastoral scenes of England. 2017 recording.
