This project commemorates the 150th anniversary of Vaughan Williams' birth. The impetus for this album was the 15.5-minute "Fantasy in the Style of Variations on the 104th Psalm" at the end of the album, which has not been performed in the past, perhaps because it requires solo piano, chorus, and orchestra. Mark Bevington and Hilary Davan Wetton were inspired to make a new recording of the piece in this memorable year. The recording includes other pieces that have not been performed as often as they should. The only well-known piece, "Aged Hibari," is recorded in its original piano accompaniment version rather than the popular orchestral version. Naxos Japan
