Us Patent No. 75134 Toy Golf Player by Pa Vaile January 19 194 — Vaile's 1904 patent drawing renders a jointed mechanical golfer mid-swing, every pivot and linkage diagrammed with the obsessive precision of an inventor who clearly studied the real thing. It's a parlor-game homage to the era of gutta-percha balls and hickory shafts, when the swing itself was still being puzzled out as a kind of engineering problem.
