Cowen, Frederic Hymen (1852-1935)
Description:
Frederick Hymen Cowen (1852-1935) was an English conductor, pianist, and composer who served as principal conductor of the Halle Orchestra and the Royal Scottish Orchestra. Percy Sherwood (1866-1939), born in Germany to an English father and German mother, was a composer active in Dresden before the war and lived in London shortly before World War I began. Corwin's Fifth Symphony is colorful, full of energy and drama. Sherwood's Concerto, influenced by Brahms' Double Concerto but with its own unique charm. Both are world premiere recordings. Rare symphonies, orchestral music fans, take note! Tokyo M-Plus
