Description:
Italy in the 19th and first half of the 20th century enjoyed a boom in opera, with Verdi, Puccini, and Mascagni among the great composers of the time. During this boom period of opera, "fantasias" for instrumental music, especially clarinet, based on the works of these composers were born and played an important role in the revival of Italian instrumental music. The concert works, including fantasias based on the music of Verdi, Puccini, and Mascagni, are performed by Emanuele Salvatore Anzalone, a student of the master Antoni Pei. He also studied with Alessandro Carbonare at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, and has recorded not only as a soloist but also as principal of the Orquestra Mediterranea di Clarinetti.
