14-inch 'infinity frame' painting of a chintz flower vase in done in kalamkari style.
'Chintz' usually refers to cotton fabric or paper printed with flower patterns. It’s often used in historical (mainly 18th century) dress and in Dutch folk costumes.
Chintz fabric originated in India in the 16th century, and was mostly hand painted (and sometimes block printed with smaller wooden blocks). It was not only used for clothing, but also for home furnishings. As it gained popularity, it began to be produced in Europe as well.
We have recreated an old classic design, handpainted on our infinity frame. This design was originally created on the Coromandel coast, and is displayed at the Victoria and Albert (V&A) Museum in London.
Being hand painted, this product is unique in itself, and its tiny imperfections are what make it special.
Comes with a hook at the back to hang on walls.
