Description:
A 2-in-1 reissue of Barbara Dane's classic albums representing the early period of her career! Two in Wonderful" is a series of reissues of two classic albums in double-jacket format. This time, we are coupling the albums from '59 and '62 by Barbara Dane, a folk-blues singer with "faith". In the midst of America's chaotic times, Barbara Dane began her career as a protest folk singer, singing since the 1950s. Her career spans more than 70 years. Although a white singer, her authentic bluesy voice has been hailed as the second coming of Bessie Smith and even attracted Louis Armstrong. This disc includes "On My Way" from 1962 and "Livin' with the Blues" from 1959, both of which are popular records that have attracted attention especially in the UK's Northern Soul scene. The latter album, featuring piano and arrangements by Earl Hines, Benny Carter, and other fine musicians, is another excellent recording that allows the listener to appreciate Barbara as a jazz singer even more. A single version of M-2 (1960) is included as a bonus track. Commentary: Kazunori Harada
