Description:
[Toru Takemitsu: 25 Years After His Death UHQCD Masterpiece Selection] To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the death of Toru Takemitsu, one of Japan's most famous composers, Deutsche Grammophon and Decca have carefully selected and reissued the masterpieces of his works. These 10 titles include albums that have been difficult to obtain in recent years, all of which are being reissued on UHQCD for the first time. This series is the best way to trace the achievements of the composer, who left behind many masterpieces in a wide variety of styles. The impressive "Distance," with its interweaving sounds of oboe and sho, "Voice," in which the flutist gives a flesh tone, "Stanza II," which combines a solo harp and a pre-recorded tape, and "Eucalypts," derived from the evergreen eucalyptus tree. This is a rare album of solo performances by Toru Takemitsu, composed and dedicated as a "personal gift" to the three Swiss musicians he admired so much, Nikolais and Holliger. 1973 Recording Academy Award winner. Green color label coated. [Performed by] Aurèle Nicolet (flute) (2, 4, 5), Heinz Holliger (oboe) (1, 4, 5), Ursula Holliger (harp) (3, 4, 5), Tadachuma Tadamaro (sho) (1), Basel Ensemble / Conductor: Jürg Wittenbach (4) Recorded: March 1972 (2-5), June 1973 June 1973 (1) Polydor Studio, Tokyo
