The MSH-6 is a Mid-Side capsule that looks like a single microphone but actually houses two elements: a forward-facing unidirectional mic and a side-facing bidirectional mic. This classic MS configuration captures a stereo image that's fully mono-compatible and, crucially, adjustable in width after the fact during post-production.

That makes the MSH-6 particularly valuable for film, video, and broadcast work where you might need to narrow or widen the stereo field to match the visual framing. The H5 and H6 recorders include an onboard MS decoder, so you can monitor and adjust the stereo spread in real time. Compatible with the H5, H6, H8, Q8, U-44, F8, and ECM-3 extension cable.
