Ursus spelaeus - The Cave Bear became extinct about 24,000 years ago and lived at the same time as Woolly Mammoths, Saber-toothed Cats, and Dire Wolves. This powerful beast could weigh up to 1,540 pounds, which is larger than most Polar Bears. Prehistoric humans painted images of these giants on cave walls and carved their likeness in fragments of Mammoth tusk.
