The car commercials using their music didn't really help either. Despite that, Torches launched Foster the People into the public eye. In particular, the single Pumped Up Kicks saw regular rotation on pop radio at the time. The simplistic yet memorable bass and drum backing track was the foundation and a catchy chorus that would make Brian Wilson envious made the track inescapable.
