Palester, Roman (1907-1989)
Description:
Born in Poland, Palestel studied in Cracow and Warsaw. An active political voice, he was briefly imprisoned during World War II, but by the late 1940s he was considered one of Poland's greatest composers. However, he was later exiled after a conflict with the Communist government and moved to Paris. His works were not reappraised in Poland until the late 1970s, and he is known for his unique style, which includes a use of the twelve-tone technique. This album was produced in cooperation with the University of Warsaw Foundation and the University Library. Naxos Japan
