The long-awaited release of Masaaki Suzuki's harpsichord performance of the complete English Suites! Masaaki Suzuki's harpsichord performances of Bach's works include the Mean Clavier Works Volume 1 (1996 recording / BIS 813), the Goltberg Variations (1997 recording / BIS 819), Inventions and Sinfonias (1998 recording / BIS 1009), Fantasias and Fugues ( 1998 / BIS 1037), French Suites (1999-2001 / BIS 1113), Six Partitas (2001 / BIS 1313), Italian Concertos, French Overtures, etc. (2002 / BIS 1469), and the second volume of the Mean Clavier Works (2005 BIS 1513), all of which have been highly acclaimed.After that, there were no recordings of the English Suite for harpsichord solo for some time, but in 2016, almost 10 years later, the English Suite was recorded! Along with the French Suite and the Partita, the English Suite is one of Bach's most famous dance suites. Named after Volker's remark that it was written for a certain noble Englishman, the six works always include four pieces in common: Armand, Courant, Sarabande, and Gigue, with the first piece being a lengthy prelude. Masaaki Suzuki's performance is full of charm that grabs the listener's attention with its remarkable concentration and richness of content. The instrument is a replica of the Lückers made by Willem Krusberchen in 1982, which was also used in the complete set of concertos for two harpsichords (KKC 5496 / BIS SA 2051).
