Pressure Plate: This is the main component of the kit, responsible for compressing the clutch pack.

Friction Plates: These discs have a friction material on them and are designed to engage with the steel plates, transmitting power.

Steel Plates: These smooth metal discs separate the friction plates within the clutch pack.

Clutch Springs: These springs provide the tension needed to engage the clutch and hold the plates together. 

Based on one available kit description, a replacement kit specifically for the 1971-1984 Sportster XL models includes 8 friction plates, 8 steel plates, a spacer set, and a spring set. 

However, other kits may vary in the number of friction and steel plates included
