Description:
The Concerto for Violin, Piano and String Orchestra, written by Mendelssohn as a boy, was completed in 1823 to be performed at the regular concerts held at his home. It seems to have been composed with his sister Fanny playing the piano and his friend Eduard Rietz the violin, and is a beautiful piece of intimate music between the two instruments. The Violin Concerto in D minor, completed the year before, was also written for Rietz, but its existence had been long forgotten, and since its discovery by Menuhin in 1951, it has been increasingly performed. Violinist Neudauer won the first prize at the Leopold Mozart Competition in Augsburg at the age of 15, and his talent is attracting much attention. He plays in a splendid ensemble with veteran pianist Kirschnerite. Naxos Japan
