Description:
Joseph Scherb is not at all well known among the German composers of the 20th century. He began his brilliant career as a "pupil of Liszt" studying music in Geneva. At the same time, he was a teacher at the Freiburg Conservatory of Music and won fame as a composer during World War I. However, in 1942, all of his early works were destroyed by bombing. Although temporarily discouraged, he later returned. His creative spirit remained unabated until his death at the age of 82. This first collection contains three works written in his later years. The "Music for Orchestra," which has a nostalgic feel, is the highlight of this collection. Paul Mann (conductor), Liepāja Symphony Orchestra [1-4], Pavel Barev (conductor), Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra [5-7].
