Original to c.1905, this Edwardian solitaire ring is set with a vibrant and lively pink gemstone, weighing 1.78ct and a very charming oval shaped old-cushion cut. This synthetic ruby displays an intense and vivid cerise pink and quite literally appears to glow from within. Rubies owe their colour to trace amounts of chromium which causes them to fluoresce when exposed to certain types of light. In some cases their luminescence is so strong that they fluoresce in daylight alone thanks to the UV rays emitted by the sun. This ruby has remarkable clarity despite its large size, making it a fantastic stone.
Elegantly claw-set to a refined scalloped collet; to shoulders which are shaped like fleur-de-lis motifs, with ridge detail and scrolling terminals. The shoulders gently taper to a further double ridge to a solid 18ct yellow gold band which comfortably conforms to the finger.
Unless stated otherwise, gem weights and specifications are estimated (assessed in mount).
