Originally designed by Danish designer Niels Jørgen Haugesen in the late 1970s, the X-Line Chair has become part of HAY’s collection of enduring designs. Made from slender steel wire, it reflects the industrial aesthetic and technical innovation of the high-tech movement. The chair’s distinctive X-shaped structure enhances strength and flexibility while creating a light and graphic expression.

Constructed from a powder-coated steel seat and back with either a matching powder-coated steel or hot galvanised steel rod base, the chair offers durability for everyday use both indoors and outdoors. The perforated surface allows rainwater to drain easily, enhancing its suitability for outdoor environments. Its minimalist design showcases the precision of the steel frame, creating an elegant silhouette that works across a wide range of interiors. Stackable up to 10 chairs, the slender steel construction allows for compact storage, while the X-structure creates an elegant geometric silhouette when stacked.

The X-Line Chair is also available in an indoor version with a chromed steel frame. The chair is sold as a set of two in the same finish.
