What does the SCHIRMER tear test measure?

The SCHIRMER teat test measures a patients eye moisture levels, determining if the eye produces enough tears to keep the eye moist and hydrated.

Such as test is carried out, as tears are critical for ocular health and maintaining normal function of the eye. Tears provide oxygen, nutrition, lubrication and part of the immune system to the corneal surface.
