Local artist, Trammell's The Pale Moon at Club Juke captures the spiritual awakening in the movie SINNERS' juke joint scene. The image vibes so well with 100 Men Hall energy that we had to have the original on our walls.
Trammell used as a reference the The Sugar Shack, an iconic 1976 painting by former NFL player turned artist Ernie Barnes. It famously captures the exuberant, rhythmic energy of Black dancers in a segregated North Carolina dance hall.
To support artists of color like Trammell, the Hall has issued 20 signed and numbered limited edition fine art prints of the painting for sale, with 75% of the proceeds going to the artist.
The print is 23 x 31 and has a half inch margin on fine cotton paper.
The legendary juke joint sequence in Ryan Coogler's Sinners centers around the character Sammie (played by Miles Caton), who steps into the spotlight to sing the blues. His performance magically pierces the veil of time, blurring past, present, and future while setting off an epic, transcendent musical montage.
