This stunning large mustard-glazed Provence tian is a remarkable example of traditional French pottery, essential in kitchens throughout the 1700s, 1800s and early 1900's.
Traditionally used as versatile antique cookware for preparing meals, duck and pork confit, the tian embodies both utility and beauty in Provençal pottery. These gorgeous bowls were also essential in the collection of cream, and duck and pork fat - essential for French cooking, as it still is today.
The peice has been restored about 100 to 150 years ago using the traditional methods of the time, and still works today as an essential kitchen piece. Please see pictures of bolting.
